Walmart de México y Centroamérica included in the Sustainable IPC Index of the Mexican Stock Exchange and Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index
Mexico City, April 11th, 2013. For the second year in a row, Walmart de México y Centroamérica participates in the Sustainable IPC Index of the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) and, for the first time, in the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index, as the only Mexican company, due to its leadership in economic, social and environmental areas.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index offers investors a tool to measure the performance of the 69 companies considered as leaders in corporate sustainability. Recently, Mexico’s Stock Market (Bolsa Mexicana de Valores) made public its new sustainability index IPC Sustentable which is effective since February 1st 2013. Walmart de México y Centroamérica is part of the list of 29 companies out of 70 evaluated, that outstand the national average on the scores of environment, social responsibility and corporate governance, and that also complied with percentage criteria of floating shares, market floated value and minimum liquidity required.

The hard data used to qualify to the referred indexes is contained in the Social Responsibility Report “We are Walmart de México y Centroamérica 2012” that, also for the first time, received an “A” rate from the Global Reporting Initiative GRI due to the quality of the information in the five dimensions tested which are Economics, Environment, Human Rights, Labor Practices and Ethics on the job; and Society and Responsibility in the Product.
