Reaction to the letter from US Congressmen Waxman and Cummings

México, Distrito Federal, January 11, 2013.- The information contained in the letter from US Congressmen Henry Waxman and Elijah Cummings is part of an extensive investigation that Walmart Stores Inc. began in the fall of 2011, through the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, related to compliance with the FCPA. That investigation is being conducted by outside legal counsel and forensic accountants, who are experts in FCPA compliance, and they are reporting regularly to the Audit Committee.

Walmart de México y Centroamérica has provided information to Mexico´s Attorney General Office related to these allegations and continues to be committed to collaborate fully in the investigation that the Attorney General is conducting.

Some of the information that has been presented to the media is from an internal investigation undertaken by Walmart Stores in 2005 that contained reports of interviews with Mr. Sergio Cicero, a former Walmart de México associate. Mr. Cicero left Walmart de México in August 2004.

For Walmart de México y Centroamérica, the respect of Mexican laws and institutions is a fundamental value and our company reiterates its commitment to collaborate with the Mexican competent authorities. Our company has established a process to respond appropriately to any requirement or request for information made by competent authorities.
